What Defines a Precision Fabrication Project

The distinction between precision fabrication and standard shop work is the tolerance the finished part must hold. Standard fabrication allows dimensional variation that the assembly accommodates through slotted holes, overlapping joints, or field adjustment. Precision fabrication produces parts that must fit without accommodation, where the dimensional accuracy of the fabricated component is what makes the assembly work.

At CMV Fabrication, precision projects involve in-process measurement at the laser, at the brake, and at the welding station. Dimensions are checked against the drawing at multiple stages during fabrication, not only at final inspection. That level of verification is what keeps accuracy consistent across a batch of parts and across the steps of a multi-operation fabrication sequence.
