Choosing Between MIG and TIG for a
Custom Welding Job

The decision between MIG and TIG welding depends on what the joint needs to do and what the finished piece needs to look like. MIG is the right choice for structural steel joints, thicker materials, and production work where speed matters. TIG is the right choice for thin materials, visible welds, and metals like stainless steel that require a controlled heat input to avoid discoloration or warping.

Customers do not need to specify the welding process when requesting a quote. CMV Fabrication evaluates the material and the application and selects the method that produces the best result. If a project involves both types of joint, CMV applies each process where it fits.
