The material a custom part is made from determines its strength, weight, corrosion behavior and weldability along with cost. Carbon steel is the most economical choice for parts where corrosion protection can be handled with a powder coat finish. Aluminum saves weight and resists corrosion naturally but costs more and requires different fabrication technique. Stainless steel provides the highest corrosion resistance and is required where the part contacts food, chemicals, or moisture without a protective coating.
CMV Fabrication helps customers select the right material by evaluating the part's application, its operating environment, and its structural requirements. Choosing the wrong material, in either direction, either overbuilds the part at unnecessary cost or underbuilds it for the conditions it will face.
