Steel Gauge and Heat Tolerance in Custom Fire Pit Construction

Fire pits operate under repeated thermal stress. The steel expands when heated and contracts when it cools, and thinner metal warps under that cycle faster than heavier gauge material. CMV Fabrication selects steel gauge for its custom fire pits based on the size of the pit and the expected heat output, using heavier stock where the thermal load is greater.

The high-temperature powder coat finish CMV Fabrication applies is formulated to withstand the heat generated during normal wood-burning or gas-burning use without blistering, peeling, or discoloring. The combination of appropriate steel gauge and heat-rated coating means the fire pit maintains both its structural shape and its surface appearance over years of regular use.
