A companion niche is a wider or deeper compartment designed to hold two urns, allowing a married couple or family members to be interred together in the same location. Companion niches are typically purchased in advance by one member of a couple, with the second interment taking place at a later date. The niche must be accessible for that second placement without disturbing the first urn.
