Laser Cutting Versus Plasma
and Waterjet Cutting

Laser and plasma are both CNC-driven cutting methods with practical ranges where each performs best. Waterjet is a third option that cuts virtually any material but runs slower and costs more per inch. Laser cutting delivers the finest edge quality and tightest tolerances on thin to mid-range material. Plasma handles thicker steel at faster speeds but with a wider kerf and rougher edge.

CMV Fabrication offers CNC laser cutting as its primary cutting service because it covers the widest range of work at the precision level most parts require. When a customer's part would be better served by a different process, CMV will say so at the quoting stage.
