Aluminum requires less maintenance than steel because it does not rust. Surface oxidation forms a protective layer that actually slows further corrosion, so an aluminum truck bed holds up in wet and salt-exposed conditions without the ongoing recoating that a steel bed demands. Scratches and scuffs do not create the corrosion risk they would on painted steel.
Periodic inspection of welds and fasteners is still good practice, particularly on a bed that carries heavy or shifting loads. CMV Fabrication builds its aluminum truck beds with welding techniques suited to the material, and the joints are designed to handle the stresses of daily commercial use over the long term.
